The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office-9 bared plans to construct a multimillion peso building in Barangay Mampang this year.

The building, worth P200-million, is intended to house all centers operated by the government office.

This includes three DSWD-operated centers such as the Reception and Study Center for Children, the Home for Women and the Home for the Elderly.

The DSWD main office and the three offices will transfer to the lot in Mampang where the Processing Center for Displaced Persons (PCDP) is located.

Ivan Eric Salvador, DSWD-9 Information Officer, said that funds have already been allocated for the project.

DSWD Undersecretary Camilo Gudmalin already visited the city to discuss the plan with center heads.

Salvador said that lots vacated by the offices will be converted to other uses.  (RGAAGo)
