The City of Zamboanga leads in the celebration of Zamboanga City’s 81st Charter Day, dubbed as Dia dela Ciudad de Zamboanga, today.

Local residents have the opportunity to celebrate the occasion after the day was declared as a special non-working holiday pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 412.

The highlight of the celebration is the grand civic military parade and program which will officially kick off at 7 a.m.

The grand civil miltary parade will start at the City Fire Station in Ledesma Street towards the City Hall grounds where a commemorative program will be held.

The guest of honor for today’s festivities is Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III.

A City Hall statement states that the event will also be attended by members of the La Hermandad Zamboangueña, a group of successful Zamboangueños based in Manila and Manila-based members of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

The highlight of the program will be the awarding of this year’s Local Achievers.

The Charter Day celebration marks the day when the first set of city officials were installed into office.
