11 drug suspects arrested in Lamitan Print

Lamitan police has arrested a total of 11 drug suspects since the re-opening of the Tokhang operation in the country.

PNP Insp. Roel Gasoh, Lamitan city police deputy, said that a total of 10 suspected drug pushers were arrested in a series of buy-bust operations for the month of January.

A drug pusher was also arrested during the first week of this month.

The suspects have been committed to the Basilan Provincial Jail in Isabela City.

Gasoh said that police is supporting a program of Lamitan Mayor Rose Furigay to rehabilitate the city’s drug surrenderers through a community-based drug rehabilitation program.

Among the activities undertaken for rehabilitation of drug users are the development of the users’ skills, sports activities, greenery program like planting vegetables and fruit trees.

The activities are undertaken in coordination with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD.). (Allen Abastillas)
