“Today is the time for Mindanao.”

This was the message of Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III during the city’s 81st Dia De La Ciudad de Zamboanga.

“Many decades of neglect will end now. This island of great promise will be in the center of the massive infrastructure program being rolled out by the Duterte administration,” Dominguez said.

When it comes to infrastructure projects, Mindanao will also greatly benefit.

For Zamboanga Peninsula, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has a total of 754 road projects in the pipeline amounting to P23 billion for 2018.

Zamboanga City alone has a total of 102 projects involving road construction improvement worth P1.16 billion for implementation this year and the 36-kilometer bypass road is expected to be completed this year.

The office will also support the airport transfer to Mercedes.

For Mindanao, irrigation project is set to be completed this year worth P5.4 billion for North Cotabato and Maguindanao, a project that will irrigate almost 10,000 hectares of land in the 56 conflict affected areas.

The Mindanao Logistic Infrastructure Network involves construction improvement of  2,500 kilometer of  road across Northern Mindanao, Davao, Socsargen, and  Caraga regions costing P98 billion, rebuilding Marawi, and the Mindanao Railway Project that will link all regions of Mindanao and enable cheaper means of transportation around the island.

This is all part of the Build Build Build program of the Duterteadministration that will help stimulate economic activity in all provinces, a development expected to   raise GDP to 7% per annum and bring down poverty incidence from 21% to 14% by the end of the term of the president.

“We are now in the midst of the golden age of infrastructure.  All these projects would not have been possible without the support of our taxpayers,” Dominguez stressed.  (RGAAGo)
