House to hold BBL consultation today PDF Print E-mail

Members of the House of Representatives are expected to arrive in the city today to conduct a consultative hearing on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL)

The group will be composed of representatives from the Committees on Local Government, Muslim Affairs and the Special Committee on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity.

The Committee on Local Government is chaired by Rep. Pedro Acharon Jr., the Commitee on Muslim Affairs is led by Rep Mauyag Papandayan and the Special Commitee on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity is headed by Rep. Ruby Sahali.

First District Congressman Celso Lobregat, a member of the BBL sub-committee, said that marathon consultations are being conducted in Mindanao to get the positions of various stakeholders on the proposed BBL.

The house committees have finished their consultations in Luuk, Sulu last February 22 and in Basilan last February 23.

The representatives were in Tawi-Tawi yesterday and will hold consultations in Tubod, Lanao del Norte on March 15 and in Marawi City on March 16.

Lobregat said that they have already consolidated House Bills 92, 6121, 6263 and 6475 in the sub-committee level.

Congressman Lobregat is inviting stakeholders to submit their respective position papers and participate actively in BBL discussions.  (Ely Dumaboc)
