A retired teacher lost more than a hundred thousand pesos of her savings to suspected members of the Budol-Budol gang last Wednesday.

Police Regional Office9 Information Officer Chief Insp Helen Galvez identified the victim as Constantina Aizon Acbo, 71 years old, and a resident of Sta Maria.

Acbo was walking along Panigayan Street when she was approached by an unidentified man who offered her a business opportunity.

After their conversation, the man offered to accompany the victim to the latter’s residence and to the bank to withdraw money for down payment.

The victim withdrew her savings amounting to P130,000 and gave the money to the suspect.

The suspect together with another unidentified companion handed a red bag to the victim for safekeeping.

Acbo said that she kept the bag thinking that her money was inside.

After a few minutes however, Acbo was shocked to find bundles of pad paper inside the bag.

Zamboanga City Police station 11 personnel are conducting a deeper investigation on the incident and have asked for the CCTV footage from the bank to identify the suspects.  (Dan Toribio)
