The Zamboanga Coast Guard Station turned over an Egyptian  national to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) after the latter was found to have been overstaying in the country.

Philippine Coast Guard Zamboanga Station Chief Lt. Commander Alvin Dagalea disclosed that Mohammad Shabaan Abdelaziz was held and questioned by his troopers at the Zamboanga City Port last February 25 after the latter was seen boarding a vessel bound for Basilan.

The Egyptian said that he was on his way to Maluso to purchase a pumpboat for fishing.

He was reportedly travelling with four Filipinos.

Dagalea said that the travel of Abdelaziz seems questionable since it was a day after government troops engaged Abu Sayyaf bandits in an encounter.

Upon inspection, it was also found out that Abdelaziz held an expired visa.

PCG personnel held the Egyptian who was turned over to the  Immigration officials for proper disposition.  (Allen Abastillas)
