The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to implement  infrastructure projects worth P2.8-billion in district 1.

First District Congressman Celso Lobregat said that the appropriated budget is already set for the realization of some 53 major infrastructure projects which have been identifed by the DPWH.

The solon said that together with DPWH, they have also prepared and submitted the plans and projects to further address the traffic congestion in the city proper.

This is to be accomplished by widening alternate routes connecting to the ZC-Labuan-Limpapa road to the Zamboanga Bypass road and to Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat Highway.

Some of these alternate routes would entail widening of Governor Ramos Avenue, the Sta.Maria-Pasonanca road, Veterans Avenue Extension, and the Tumaga road leading to Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat Highway.

The solon thus reiterated his call on the general public to be patient while expecting more traffic congestion in the city proper in the event these infra projects initiated by national government will be implemented this year.

He also urged DPWH officials to work hard in order to catch up with the prescribed time for the implementation and completion of these projects.

“As long as I am the Representative of District 1 and at the same time the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Works and Highways, DPWH will have their hands full of projects,”  Lobregat said.

"DPWH Director Jorge Sebastian and his personnel should continue working hard with  a sense of urgency. Tu como un empleado de govierno, reporta temprano na tabajo si necesita," Lobregat said.  (Dexter Yap)
