A man was killed during a three-vehicle collision along the Putik portion of Maria Clara Lobregat Highway at dawn Saturday.

Police Regional Office-9 Information Officer Chief Insp. Helen Galvez identified the fatality as Luis Galvez Casimiro, 42 years old, married, a resident of Sitio Lumiyap, Barangay Divisoria and the driver of a motorcycle with sidecar.

The two other victims were identified as Silvino Duran Sensio, 54, married and a resident of Alvarez Drive, Barangay Divisoria and Antonio Sibuja Floro, 50 years old, married and a resident of Birada Calabasa, Barangay Curuan.

Sensio was the driver of a 14-wheeler Isuzu truck while Floro was driving an Isuzu Elf when the collision happened.

Investigation showed that the Isuzu Elf was travelling along the highway when it immediately stopped upon reaching the area fronting KIA Motors after it got entangled with telephone wires.

Casimiro, who was following from behind, failed to apply the motorcycle’s brakes and hit the rear portion of the Isuzu Elf.

A 14-wheeler truck driven by Sensio was right behind Casimiro also rammed the motorcycle, thus crushing the latter.

Casimiro sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival due to a deep laceration on his throat.

All three vehicles were impounded at the Divisoria Police Station while the two drivers were placed under investigation.  (Dan Toribio)
