The number of fatalities who have succumbed to measles has reached four, according to a local health official.

Dr. Dulce Amor Dagalea- Miravite, OIC-City Health Office, identified the first victim as a 6- month-old baby boy from Calarian who died last February 6.

The victims also include a 3-month-old boy from Tumaga, a 7-year old girl from Calarian and an 8-month-old boy from Barangay Zambowood.

The deaths were recorded amid a massive immuization campaign targeting more than a hundred thousand children who comprise the most vulnerable sector.

The immunization program is currently targeting 121,000 children for MMR (Mumps, Measles, Rubella) vaccination from February 19 to March 23.

Miravite said that a total of 24,655 children have already been vaccinated.  (RGAAGo)
