The Land Transportation Office-9 (LTO-9) has warned vehicle buyers of a racket involving the use of fake LTO receipts serving as documents for second hand vehicles.

This after LTO-9 officials discovered three falsified LTO receipts presented by buyers of second hand vehicles in renewing their registration last month.

LTO-9 District Officer Noel Noche said that fake LTO receipts have been surfacing even last year.

Noche said that it is now easy to print LTO papers given an advanced technology which could be available to almost everyone.

Noche admitted that it is quite difficult to detect fake receipts by a first time car buyer who can also be sweet-talked in buying a vehicle by conmen.

He advised parties interested to purchase a second hand vehicle to visit the LTO office to verify the status of the vehicle.  (Allen Abastillas)
