House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Public Works and Highways and Congressman Celso Lobregat revealed today that the projects appropriated for the Road Convergence Program (RCP) between the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the DPWH is now on tis finishing stages.

Congressman Lobregat said that for this year, the national government has appropriated the amount of P150 Million for the said project which is being done thru the combined efforts of the two government agencies concern.

This project involves the concreting of the 25.7-kilometer road from Jct. of the National Highway to Nancy Falls in La Paz. This is a city/ barangay road that has been classified as a road leading to a tourism site.

Lobregat said that in the past, the city government could only afford to allocate a yearly amount of P5 to P10 Million to concrete and maintain the Ayala La Paz Road.

Since 5 years ago, the National Government thru the DOT/ DPWH road convergence program has been pouring multi million peso funding every year for the Ayala La Paz road. By the time the project will be completed the fund would amount to almost One (1) Billion Pesos.

“The roads leading to eco-tourism sites is also very vital, it is also the main artery for the highlands which would also benefit our farmers as well,” Lobregat said.

And so is Zamboanga City Ecozone, Lobregat said that the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA) contains 2 Road Packages in the Ecozone worth P250 Million under the DTI/DPWH road convergence.

Congressman Lobregat said that in this Golden Era of infrastructure in the country under the Duterte administraton, he will make sure that we are not being left out with the major infrastructure projects necessary for progress and development of our city. – Dexter Yap
