Mayor Beng Climaco revealed at Monday’s press briefing that cases have already been filed against personnel of the National Housing Authority (NHA) based in Region 9 and Zamboanga City.

It was not however clear whether or not the cases filed had something to do with the housing units in Tulungatung, one of which had collapsed last month due to substandard materials used.

“I reported to the President this problem and we received a feedback from Gen. Manager Escalada thru Sec. Bong Go that cases have been filed against NHA personnel,” the mayor told the media.

President Duterte together with some of his Cabinet members was in the city over the weekend for a private engagement.

Unfortunately, the mayor lamented that since the incident the NHA has yet to send over its own team that would investigate the collapsed housing unit at a resettlement site in Barangay Tulungatung, west of this city.

City Housing Chief Jawo Jimenez also said until now the NHA has never sent a team yet.

“It will not prevent us from coming up with a conclusion to correct some measures, perhaps legal actions will also be done against those erring contractors and even those that have contracted this building without following the standards set in the Building Code,” Climaco said.

Jimenez for his part said he has been waiting for the NHA team to come over “but until now, none yet.”-(Vic Larato)
