A Grade 8 student was able to cheat death after he was stabbed on the chest by a 17-year-old in Barangay Maasin last Wednesday.

Police Regional Office-9 Information Officer Chief Inspector Helen Galvez said that the victim was looking for his friend in Barangay Maasin when the incident took place.

Upon reaching Zone 2, the suspect appeared and stabbed the victim with an icepick in the chest.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and was reported to have survived the attack.  He was released the same day.

Police said that they are still trying to investigate the motive behind the attack.

Zamboanga City Police Station 8 Investigator SPO1 Janet D. Acenas, however, said that the victim has not reported to the station to file a complaint as of press time yesterday.  (Remus Ong)
