More than a hundred jail personnel of the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) underwent drug testing last Sunday in line with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s (BJMP) objective to maintain a drug-free jail facility.

A total of 108 urine samples taken from jail personnel were submitted to Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) of the  Philippine National Police (PNP) for testing.

A Rank Inspection Delta was posted on its calendar of activities requiring all jail personnel to be present for the activity.

ZCRC spokesperson Jail Officer RL Comprendo said that the random drug testing was an order coming from national headquarters.

Based on the order, ZCRC personnel will undergo random drug tests every quarter.

Jail personnel who will be tested positive for drugs face administrative sanctions including dimissal from the service.

Comprendo also said that inmates also undergo regular cell visitation and inspection to ensure that the jail facility remains drug-free.  (Joey Bautista)
