The Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (ZAMCELCO) has cut off electricity at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 9 office due to unpaid power bills.

The CIDG is the office under the Philippine National Police (PNP) in charge of monitoring, investigating, and prosecuting crimes, particularly major criminal cases.

At present, however CIDG members are complaining about difficulty in performing  their assigned tasks since the power was cut off last Thursday.

Office work includes using the computer to follow up official email in line with case investigation.

A CIDG staffer who refused to be identified said that they use adjacent PNP offices to do their computer work.

They also brought documents home over the weekend to be completed using their personal computers.

CIDG employees said that they have no information as to the total amount of their bill, how long it was left unpaid and the reason for the department’s failure to pay the bill. (Remus Ong)
