LGU, agencies ink ‘pagHILOM’ pact Print

The local government has engaged in partnership with different agencies and organizations for the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s rehabilitation program for survivors of torture and enforced disappearances.

In simple ceremonies, Mayor Beng Climaco, along with representatives of partner agencies, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Healing Intervention Leading to Optimum Management (pagHILOM) for the Victims of Torture and Enforced Disappearances and their Families yesterday morning, March 20, at City Hall.

The chief executive expressed her gratitude for the presence and participation of all partner agencies involved in the program, and her hope for a partnership that will lead to healing interventions and support to victims and their families.

The program, piloted by the DSWD as the lead social protection agency, is focused on the healing, rebuilding of lives, reparation, development, and access to justice for survivors of torture and enforced disappearances.

Aside from the local government of Zamboanga, partner agencies for the program also include the Commission on Human Rights IX, the Regional Prosecution Office IX of the Department of Justice, Department of Health IX, Department of the Interior and Local Government IX, Department of Education IX, Commission on Higher Education IX, FIND – Western Mindanao region, and Balay Rehabilitation Center.

The MOA signing also served as the orientation to the pagHILOM Program, faciltiated by Dir. Helen Y. Suzara of the DSWD Social Technology Bureau.-(Jasmine Mohammadsali)
