The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) is urgning the public to conserve water to prepare for any shortage this summer.

Edgar Baños, ZCWD Information Officer. said that the Pasonanca production facility is still operating at normal level with 70 million liters a day.  Prime Water, meanwhile, is producing 45 million liters per day.

Baños said that although the water level at the ZCWD diversion dam is still at normal level, rains have become infrequent, thus the possibility of a water shortage if the trend continues.

“We are at a regular production mode (but) we might not be so sure about what happens in the next couple of weeks,” said Baños.

Meanwhile, Baños said that the office will be in a better position this year to address the heat wave and a possible shortage of water after Prime Water started operating.

“If that happens (dry spell) we think it will be minimal that what it was before.  We like to believe that the worse is over for ZCWD,”  Baños added.  (RGAAGo)
