18 new school buildings to rise in District 1 Print

A total of 18 new school buildings are expected to be constructed in District 1 this year.

First District Congressman Celso Lobregat said that the school buildings will be constructed under the School Building Program (SBP) of the Department of Education through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH.)

The school buildings will consist of 189 classrooms worth P467.63-million.

Lobregat identified the school buildings as the following:  Rio Hondo Elementary School, Talisayan National High School, Pasonanca Elementary School, Labuan Central School, Recodo National High School, Sta. Maria Central School, Patalon Elementary School, Sta. Maria Central School, Sinunuc Elementary School, Catalina Vda. de Jalon Elementary School, San Roque Elementary School, Recodo Elementary School, Sinunuc National High School, Regional Science High School, Southcom Elementary School, San Jose Gusu Elementary School, and San Roque National High School.

We are very much concerned in molding the future of our young generation.  Education  is very important and providing them the necessary infrastructure is our great contribution to their success,” Lobregat said.

The solon said that since his re-election as Congressman in 2013 to the present, the DepEd/DPWH school building projects for the first district of Zamboanga City has been maximized and institutionalized.

Last year, Lobregat said that there are 28 school buildings with 242 classrooms worth ?356.23 million which were completed/turned over. 10 school buildings with 188 classrooms worth P295.31 million are ongoing construction while 18 school buildings with 188 classrooms were recently bidded out, for a total of P1.119.21 billion for the 56 school buildings with some 619 classrooms for Districct 1 of Zamboanga City.  (Dexter Yap)
