The House of Representatives through its committee on Muslim Affairs will summon members of Task Force Bangon Marawi to inquire into the status of the Marawi rehabilitation program.

This after the Anak Mindanao Partylist questioned the status of the program in relation to the timeline given by the government for the city’s rehabilitation.

The partylist intends to find out the measures undertaken by the Task Force in the recovery, reconstruction and rehabilitation of Marawi City.

“What is the state of the city of Marawi now?The people deserve to know from the Task Force, “ said Amihilda Sangcopan, Anak Mindanao Partylist Representative.

Sangcopan authored the resolution for Congress to conduct an inquiry into the recovery program on Marawi.

Marawi was attacked and besieged by ISIS-inspired members of the Maute group last year, forcing thousands of the city’s residents to flee their homes.

A total of 78,466 families or 359,680 individuals were displaced.

Last October 17, the government declared Marawi City to be liberated from the clutches of ISIS-Maute group.

Task Force Bangon Marawi has sent various teams composed of national and local agencies to assess the damage wrought by the terrorists in Marawi.

Government said that the city needs at least P50-billion to be rehabilitated.

“There is a need to evaluate the framework, plans and programs created by the task force to expedite the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Marawi,” Rep. Sangcopan said.  (Al Alhabshi)
