City gives assistance to fire, flood victims PDF Print E-mail

At least 51 families, whose properties had been destroyed by fire and flashfloods  in July, received their cash assistance totaling P169,000 from the city government through Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday afternoon.

The beneficiaries included 5 families from Boalan where a fire broke out on July 5, gutting down 3 houses and partially damaged 2 others. At least 3 families whose houses were totally damaged received P5,000 each, while two families received P3,000 each for their partially damaged properties.

In Barangay Quiniput, 18 families were rendered homeless due to flashfloods spawned by heavy rains last July 20. One family whose house was totally damaged  received P5,000, and 17 families whose dwellings were partially damaged got  P3,000 each for a total of P56,000 in assistance.

A similar flashflood occurred in Barangay Bolong also on July 20, affecting 8 families, whose houses were partially damaged. Each family received P3,000 assistance for a total of P24,000.

Flash floods also hit part of barangay Bunguiao on the same day where 20 families had been affected, 4 totally damaged at P5,000 each and 16 partially damaged at P3,000 for a total of P68,000 assistance.— Vic Larato
