A female public school teacher and a habal-habal driver were held at a police checkpoint in San Roque yesterday morning for alleged drug possession.

Supt. Mark Azur, Sta. Maria Police Station Chief, identified the suspects as Esmeralda Alpez Gregorio, 34 years old, married a resident of Lunzuran and an elementary school teacher, and Nicholas Bazan, 34 years old and a resident of barangay Tetuan.

Investigation showed that policemen led by Supt. Nonito Asdai were conducting a checkpoint along San Roque at around 2am when the two suspects passed by.

During inspection, policemen found three sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia including a digital weighing scale inside Gregorio’s shoulder bag.

Gregorio and Bazan were taken to the Sta. Maria Police Station while the confiscated items were forwarded to the crime laboratory for examination.
