The management of San Ramon Power Incorporated (SRPI)  is preparing to bid out the construction of its P12-billion coal fired power plant this year.

Engr Ruben Conti, SRPI Consultant, said that three Chinese bidders have expressed their interest to participate in the bidding scheduled for June or July.

“Hende kame man atras. It’s a commitment to this project,” said Conti.

SRPI has already spent USD7-million for permits, studies and other requirements for the plant’s construction.

SRPI officials are also waiting for the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative to finalize the Investment Management Contract (IMC) with Comstech, a Meralco subsidiary.  The agreement is expected to be finalized within the year.

The contract, once finalized,  will be presented to Zamcelco consumers during its Annual General Membership Assembly for their approval.

Should it be approved, the contract will be submitted to the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

Meanwhile, Conti said that SRPI will hire about 200 personnel for the plant’s operation.

A total of 1,500 workers will also be hired during the plant’s construction.  (RGAAGo)
