The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office 9 has started validating 147,498 residents of region 9 as possible Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) program beneficiaries.

Ivan Eric Salvador, DSWD-9 Information Officer, said that the names were obtained from the Listahanan of the DSWD and are now undergoing validation.

Nearly 500 enumerators in the region are tasked with the validation.  Zamboanga city alone has 111 enumerators.

The enumerators are responsible for asking basic questions and checking the authenticity and veracity of the information in the assessment form.

“We are exerting our best effort to reach the qualified recipients of the UCT.  We ask them to help our field workers in the area especially in locating the potential beneficiaries,” said Salvador.

The beneficiaries of the program will receive P200 per month for the year 2018.  The figure translates to P2,400 per year.

The amount will be increased to P300 for the years 2019 and 2020.

The additional benefits will be given to beneficiaries in line with the implementation of RA 10963 or the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law (TRAIN). (RGAAGo)
