Man shot by police in drug buy-bust PDF Print E-mail

A 28-year old man who tried to grab the firearm of a policeman was shot and wounded during a drug buy-bust operation in Camino Nuevo last Friday.

The suspect was identified as Jefferson Escalicas y Malilit, 28 years old and a resident of barangay Tetuan.

Escalisas was the subject of a drug buy-bust operation launched by police at Fermin Drive, Camino Nuevo at 4:40pm last Friday.

When the suspect was about to be arrested after the exchange, Escalisas tried to grab the M-16 rifle of the arresting officer, prompting the latter to shoot him.

The suspect was hit on his feet.

Escalisas was brought by lawmen to the hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

Police confiscated five sachets of suspected shabu estimated at P20,000, a weighing scale and P200 marked money.

Police are preparing charges for violation of the 2002 Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act against the suspect.  (Dan Toribio)
