The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has issued more than 5,000 Fire Safety Inspection Certificates (FSIC) for the first three months of the year.

The figure obtained for the first quarter surpasses the certificates issued for the entire year in 2017.

Based on BFP records, the Zamboanga City Fire District issued 5,227 FSICs  from January to March this year.

In 2017, the City Fire Department issued a total of 4,166 FSICs to business applicants.

City Fire Marshall F/Supt. Jhufel Brañanola said that they will try their best to process more FSICs to complete the documents of 10,633 business owners who filed their business applications in January this year.

Brañanola believes that they can process the applications of the projected 8,273 applicants who may still file their business applications within the year.

“Compared to last year, we are way ahead of schedule. We have adopted new strategies to fast track the issuance of FSICs and there is no truth to the alleged reports that we are the cause of the delay in the issuance of business permits in the city.”  Brañanola said.  (Bhong Simbajon)
