Highway Patrol Group-9 (HPG-9) troopers apprehended a private van engaged in transporting passengers without the required franchise during their series of anti-colorum operations in Dipolog city.

Sr. Inspector Mervin S. Claret, HPG-9 Operations Officer, said that the van was apprehended by HPG Zamboanga del Norte troopers headed by Sr. Inspector Romeo B. Orcullo in barangay Punta.

The troopers flagged down the Toyota Hi-ace van with an initial violation of unauthorized use of improvised plate and heavily tinted glass.

Upon inspection, it was found out that the van was filled with passengers, who admitted that they boarded the vehicle at Sergio Osmeña municipality to be transported to Liloy town.

The driver, a certain Rolando V. Piquero, also failed to present a Certificate of Public Convenience and franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

The vehicle was also found to have been registered with the Land Transportation Office as a private van.

The van is now impounded at the HPG-9 Zamboanga del Norte headquarters.  (Allen Abastillas)
