The City Tourism Office, with the approval of Mayor Beng Climaco, is  conducting a three-day orientation and community-guiding training that involves the locals identified by the barangays of Panubigan and Dita to undertake reception, and community guiding which started yesterday,

April 24 until April 26, 2018, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Panubigan barangay hall.

The orientation and training are part of the preliminary preparations of the City Government for the opening of the group of eleven (11) islands as eco-cultural tourism destination. The said undertaking involves an orientation on the basic information about the islands, the activities that will be oferred in the islands as well as a training about basic reception and community-guiding services.

The barangays of Panubigan and Dita have nominated some of their locals to perform community-guiding services once the islands become open to the public. At the end of the training, the City Government further aims to organize a group of carefully selected locals equipped with the basic information and skills to perform reception and community-guiding services to tourists and guests.

The group of eleven (11) islands shall be operating soon as an eco-cultural tourism destination following the approval of Ordinance 2018-06 otherwise known as the Once Islas Ordinance. Preparations are underway for its anticipated public opening to include the formulation of the Co-management scheme to be implemented in the island, convention of the Onse Islas Development Board for the approval of the co-management scheme and the On?e Islas Development Plan, and further series of meetings with stakeholders and this event.(PR)
