The relief and transfer of former Zamboanga City Police Director Sr. Supt. Neri Vincent Ignacio is not a form of disciplinary action but part and parcel of the regular and normal routine within the PNP organization, according to a press statement by the Police Regional Office-9.

The press statement stated that “the reassignment of PSSUPT. Ignacio was in pursuance to Special Order 5478 dated April 20, 2018 by command of the Chief, PNP Police Director General Oscar D. Albayalde with the authority of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).

PSSUPT. Romulo Cleve N. Taboso, Chief Regional Personnel Human Resources Doctrine Development said that any PNP personnel regardless of their ranks can be reassigned or transferred to any office or unit anywhere in the country anytime or as may be warranted by their sworn mandate.

“Further, he added the reassignment or transfer of PNP personnel is not a disciplinary action but simply a strategic for exigency based movement of the PNP personnel with the purpose of carrying out effectively and efficiently the duties and functions mandated by law on each and every member of the PNP.

It added,” The officers and men in the PNP should always be ready for any possible transfer of assignment upon issuance of orders by the appropriate authority.”

Ignacio, former Zamboanga City Police Officer in Charge, was replaced by PSSupt. Alan Nazarro during a turnover of command last Monday at the Zamboanga City Hall.

Ignacio’s departure from the ZCPO was preceded by the Tetuan Police Station jailbreak where sixteen (16) detainees escaped from their detention cell.

After the jailbreak, ten trucks of alleged smuggled items were also reported missing after being apprehended by police from a private wharf. (PRO-9 PR)
