Congressman Celso Lobregat, who also sits as Chairma of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Works and Highways, will await the conduct of the Congressional Inquiry on the alleged sub-standard housing units of the Z3R government housing program.

In an interview with the local radio and television stations here yesterday, Congressman Lobregat said that even though he is not a member of the Committee on Housing and Urban Development chaired by Rep.Alfredo Benitez, he will find time to speak about his position and opinion on the subject matter, being the representative of the 1st District of Zamboanga City, where the unfortunate incident of footbridge collapse occurred the other day.

"I will speak in the committee when the time comes that my colleague, Congressman Benitez will schedule such inquiry.  I wanted to be heard about this issue in our level because I myself am a victim together with Cong.Benitez and the City Mayor, in the incident where the materials used in those Z3R housing units were of low quality," Lobregat said.

The solon said that he will not be commenting too much about what his opinion will be in order not to pre-empt the initiatives of the congressional committee.

Congressman Lobregat said that he himself has a lot of questions about the controversial housing units in Z3R but he has to respect the mother committee who will look into it.

The solon clarified that his committee has no involvement on the issue of housing units and even on the footbridge in Sitio Hongkong,Barangay Rio Hondo that collapsed because the role of DPWH is only on opening and concreting the access road networks and drainage systems inside the Z3R housing facilities.  (Dexter Yap)
