2 policewomen, 2 others abducted by ASG in Sulu PDF Print E-mail

Two policewomen and two of their male companions were abducted by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits within the vicinity of Patikul, Sulu last Sunday.

A police report identified the policewomen as PO2 Benierose Alvarez and PO1 Dinah Gumahad.  Alvarez is assigned at the PNP Zamboanga del Sur Engineering Service while Gumahad is undergoing training under the Criminal Investigation Course.

A police report said that the two lady cops together with their designated driver, identified as Jackosalem Ahamad Blas and his companion, Faizal Hadji, were on board a tricycle marked "Igasan Family"  when they were flagged down by eleven (11) armed men  within the vicinity of Barangay Liang, Patikul, Sulu at around noontime.

All four victims were abducted at gunpoint and were brought by their captors towards the southern part of Patikul.

A team from the Army’s 35th Infantry Battalion immediately responded while two teams from the Army’s 45th Infantry Battalion conducted clearing and pursuit operations. (Dan Toribio with reports from Ely Dumaboc)
