Police are investigating the circumstances behind the alleged disappearance of a seaweed farmer who was reportedly carrying P45,000 in cash when he went missing last Saturday.

The missing person was identified as Abdulgani Maya Wagas, 58 years old, married.

Jallaludin Wagas, the victim’s brother, told police that Abdulgani left his house in Tictabon last Saturday morning to harvest his seaweeds and trade other products from nearby places.

Later that day, Abdulgani was spotted drinking with four men at the Masepla mangroves.

His drinking buddies were identified as Rolando Pioquinto delos Reyes, 44; Rowel Balbon Ranque, 31; Roberto Ramillano, 33; and Rosmundo Manlangit Estrada, 50.  All are residents of Mampang.

The group reportedly set off for their respective houses at around 3p.m.  Abdulgani left aboard his motorized pumpboat.

An hour later, a certain Rajan Mudiman Jamlin, 23, claimed that he saw Abdulgani’s banca being pulled by an unidentified man towards Arena Blanco.

The following morning, Abdulgani’s banca was seen at the Hadji Omar finger wharf in Arena Blanco.  Abdulgani was nowhere to be found.

Abdulgani was reportedly carrying P45,000 in cash representing the proceeds from his seaweeds trading business when he was reported missing.  (Dan Toribio)
