Visayas, Sarangani fishing boats intercepted in Zambo Print

The 901st Police Maritime Station under the Regional Maritime Unit-9 has intercepted at least eight (8) fishing boats from the Visayas during their series of operations off the coastline of Zamboanga City earlier this week.

The fishing boats were identified as the Princess Michelle from Kiamba, Sarangani province and June2, Ashley Prid Shalom, EIA, Mario, Lance, Miracle and an unidentified boat, all from Negros Oriental.

The fishing boats were reportedly undocumented and without permits.

Meanwhile, the 904th Maritime Station and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) also intercepted four (4) fishing boats without permits during a joint operation in Dapitan City.

These are the FB Norma, MPB Norjoyce-1, MPB Ben and the Norjoy-2.

A fishing boat, identified as the FB FN, was also apprehended in the seas off Tabina, Zamboanga del Sur for fishing without a permit.

Supt. Jacob G. Macabali, Regional Maritime Unit-9 chief, said that the fishing boat owners are facing charges for violation of RA 10654 known as the Fisheries Code of the Philippines.  (Allen Abastillas)
