Two cohorts of a Japanese national who allegedly orchestrated the murder of his Filipina wife were arrested in two separate operations in Zamboanga City and Zamboanga Sibugay last Thursday.

The suspects were identified as Vilma Pahilago y Samonte, 40, a resident of barangay Bato, Siay and Mateo Francisco y Rojas, 56, single a resident of Zone 2, Mampang, Zamboanga City.

At 3:30pm, Divisoria Police Station personnel arrested Samonte in Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Three hours later, the same team proceeded to Mampang, Zamboanga City where they arrested Francisco.

The two suspects were arrested on the strength of a warrant for Parricide in the killing of Jeneliz Curambao Niida on December 21, 2017.

The two reportedly conspired with 73-year-old Japanese national Kioshi Hanna Niida  by looking for a hired killer to murder Niida’s wife Jeneliz.

Pahilago and Francisco were reportedly successful in hiring the assassin who killed the Filipina victim last December.

Niida himself was arrested by police along  the Maria Clara Lobregat Highway (MCLL) last month.  (Dan Toribio)
