The  Employees Compensation Commission (ECC) has assisted 43 employees under their Employees Compensation Program (EC) from January until the present.

Jerrick Gerard Go, ECC Regional Program Manager, said that they have assisted their clients on issues such as work- related sicknesses, rehabilitation, and work- related death.

Under the program, the employer pays P10 per month for workers earning P14,999 and below while employers pay P30 per month for employees earning P15,000 and above.

The amount is remitted to the Social Security System (SSS) for private workers. For government workers, employers remit P100 per employee to the GSIS.

Presidential Decree 626 requires employers to pay SSS contribution and attend to other social services for their employees.

For work- related sickness employees will receive P200 per day under the program while for work- related death, employees’ beneificiaries receive a lump sum amount of P30,000.

The employee receives their benefit after a month after filing.

The ECC was able to assist more than 100 employees last year.

Employees' Compensation Program (EC) aims to assist workers who suffer work-connected sickness or injury resulting in disability or death. The benefits under the EC program may be enjoyed simultaneously with benefits under the social security program effective June 1984. (R.G. A A. Go)
