Bureau of Customs Zamboanga City District Office Collector  Abubakar  M. Hamad tendered last Friday night a “Recognition and Testimonial” dinner at the Marcian Garden Hotel  in honor of three customs officers  who retired from the bureau recently.

The three honorees were Manuel Vicente T. Mendoza Sr., Pedro SM. Alonso and  Roosevelt A, Akalal.

During the tesmonial dinner, the three honorees were given a  plaque of appreciation for serving the government with dedication and patriotism.
Hamad extended his congratulations to the three honorees and expressed optimism for their fruitful and healthy life as they go back to civilian life with their  families.

Mendoza, before joining the bureau, had served member of the Zamboanga City police force from 1970 to 1976. He joined the Bureau  of Customs in 1976 at the time of Collector Quinten Quijano. He served the government with a total of 41 years. He retired last June 12, 2011.

Alonso  also served the local police force from 1971 to 1974. He joined the BoC  in 1975 and served at the Port Operation Division  up  to August 1, 2011.
Akalal was  not able to attend the testimonial dinner. — Allen Abastillas
