After several months of being unable to achieve their target collection , the Bureau of Customs Zamboanga District Office has announced that they have surpassed the goal given to them last April by their central office in Manila.

BOC Zamboanga District Collector Atty. Lyceo Martinez reported that his office was able to collect P24,942,203 last month, a figure representing a 13 percent increase from the target given to them by their head office.

Zamboanga City has recorded the highest revenue amounting to P20,537,441 followed by the port of Jolo with P3,336,088.

The Isabela City Port in Basilan has recorded collections amounting to P663,316.00 while the Bongao, Tawi Tawi port was able to collect P394,522.00.

The Zamboanga International Airport recorded collections amounting to P19,836.

This is reportedly the first time that the Zamboanga District Office achieved their target collection after a period of ten months.

Martinez attributed the achievement to his dialogues which improved traders’ cooperation with his office.

I hope that the trend in the collection of taxes and duties in this bureau will continue in order for us to meet our target goal collection, Martinez said.  (Ely Dumaboc)
