The Land Transportation Office-9 (LTO-9) has warned that impounded colorum vehicles apprehended during operations by Task Force Kamao may be auctioned.

This after an increasing number of owners fail to get their unit from the LTO impounding area.

Owners of colorum vehicles will be given six months to pay the penalties involved and get their unit back.

After the six-month grace period, vehicle owners will be sent letters which will inform them that their vehicles will be subject to auction proceedings.

Penalties to be paid are the following:  P1-million for bus operators, P200,000 for van operators, P60,000 for jeepney operators.

Some operators leave their vehicles at the impounding area after failing to pay the hefty penalty fees.

Abaton warned colorum vehicle operators to cease from their illegal activities or suffer the consequences of paying huge fines to get back their vehicles.  (Allen Abastillas)
