An alleged spotter of the Abu Sayyaf group who was tasked to pinpoint  possible targets for kidnapping in Zamboanga city was arrested along RT Lim Boulevard last Friday.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez identified the suspect as Aizar Latip alias Utchung, Christopher Palomar and Abu Husni.

Latip was arrested along RT Lim Boulevard by Intelligence operatives during the conduct of law enforcement operations under Target Intel Package “Hyper.”

Latip, a follower of ASG sub-leader Commander Abogao, was reportedly sent to the city to monitor possible targets for kidnapping in Zamboanga.

Latip has a pending warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention under case numbers 3551, 3552, 3566, 3567, 3569 and 3570 in connection with the Golden Harvest Plantation kidnapping in Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan last June 11, 2001.

The suspect is reportedly involved in kidnapping incidents which victimized  Fr. Giancarlo Bossi at Brgy Bulawan, Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay Province on June 10, 2007, and Larry Tam Delos Santos a.k.a. Larry Font, owner of Font restaurant and Farmland in Lanote Bliss,

Isabela City on December 16, 2010.

Latip was also allegedly involved in the  July 10, 2007 ambush of  Philippine Marines personnel at barangay Guinanta, Albarka, Basilan Province that left fourteen 14 troopers Killed-In-Action (KIA) It will be recalled that ten among the fourteen victims were beheaded.

Nine others were Wounded-In-Action (WIA).

Units responsible for the arrest include the 904th Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion , Regional Intelligence Unit 9, and the Regional Intelligence Division.-Dan Toribio
