Two policewomen who were kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf were released by their captors in Talipao, Sulu yesterday.

Sulu Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Pablo Labra said that PO1 Dinah Gumahad was released at around 6:45 p.m. last Tuesday.

The following morning, the Abu Sayyaf also freed PO3 Benierose Alvarez in Talipao Sulu.

Unconfirmed reports said that the kidnap victims paid P2.5-million in ransom.

The two policewomen were reportedly held by the group of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Injam Yadah.

The two female cops together with Jakosalem Blas and Faizal Hambali were kidnapped in Barangay Liang, Patikul last April 29.

The group had just come from a military camp when they were forcibly taken by at least ten men.  (Ely Dumaboc)
