A member of the Philippine Marines survived a gun attack by a determined assassin who shot and then pursued his victim to his own home in Barangay San Roque last Friday.

The victim, identified as 41-year-old Sgt. Fredencio Barba y Sabangan was injured but survived the assault and is now confined at a local hospital.

The suspect ran towards the direction of Southcom Village after his failed try.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 Information Officer, said that Barba was riding a pedicab when the unknown suspect shot him from the back.

The victim nonetheless was able to run towards his residence where the suspect followed him, shot him again but missed.

The suspect was reported to be wearing a black t-shirt and a black cap.Barba sustained a gun shot wound in his head and was brought to the hospital.

Police are conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive behind the incident and the identity of the suspect.  (Dan Toribio)
