DILG circular confers mayor power to administer SK oath Print

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in its memorandum circular (MC No. 64 dated May 8, 2018) vested the city and municipal mayors with the powers, among others, to administer the oath of office of the elected officers of the Panlungsod/Pambayang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).

This, as the city government through the Local Youth Development Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Office will conduct at 2 p.m. today the mass oath taking of elected SK officials at the City Coliseum.

The said activity is also under the auspices of the DILG and the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The DILG Memorandum Circular No. 64 (4.2), specifically pointed out the roles of city/municipal mayors; to ensure 100% attendance and participation of all SK chairpersons in the conduct of the orientation and election of the Panlungsod/PambayangPederasyonngmga SK; send representative/s to attend the said activity as part of the Training Management Team; direct the LGU representative/s to collaborate with the concerned DILG City Director/C/MLGOO to discuss implementation strategies.

Under Republic Act No. 6733, city mayors are among the officials who have general authority to administer oaths.

Meanwhile, the SK Federation Orientation and Election have been scheduled on May 24-25 at Ceciles Catering in Tumaga. The creation and election of Local Youth Development Council has been scheduled next month.

The SK elected officials attended last week (May 17-19) the SK Mandatory Trainings at the Garden Orchid Hotel.-(Vic Larato)
