Celso unveils P2.3M rehab senior citizens ward at ZCMC PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday afternoon spearheaded the inauguration of the rehabilitated and improved senior citizens ward at the Zamboanga City Medical Center in line with his administration’s accelerated social and health programs.

Costing P2.3 million, the rehabilitation/improvement of the senior citizens ward will enhance the delivery of services to ailing senior citizens who avail of the services at the facility.

The ward is maintained by the City Government through the City Health Office under Dr. Rodelin Agbulos in line with the present administration’s programs for the senior citizen sector and forms part city’s health services strategies translating the vision “Nuestro deseo un ciudad sin enfermedad” (a disease free Zamboanga City).

Assisting the mayor during the inauguration were some members of the City Council, Dr. Agbulos, ZCMC Chief of Hospitals Dr. Romeo Ong, officers of the Senior Citizens Federation and other health officials and stakeholders.

The inauguration ceremony also forms part of the ZCMC’s 93rd founding anniversary activities.
During the past months, the city government has also unveiled and turned over senior citizens’ centers in various barangays such as Vitali and Culianan. Similar projects are undergoing construction in Ayala and Sta. Maria. 

Senior citizens also benefit from the city government’s Philhealth insurance program.
Meanwhile, through the initiative of Mayor Lobregat, the local government has levelled up its social and health programs by constructing wellness centers and clinics practically in all 98 barangays of the city in an effort to bring health services directly to the people.  — Sheila Covarrubias
