Vendor shot in Cawa-Cawa Print

A vendor was shot in front of his teen-age nephew by one of two motorcycle riding gunmen along Navarro Street, San Jose Cawa-Cawa, this city at dawn yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Ernie Jamiri Akmad, 41 years old, married and a resident of La Purisima Street.

The victim’s 13-year-old nephew said that he and his uncle were pushing their pedicab on their way to their boarding house past 2 a.m. when they were tailed by two men on a motorcycle.

When they reached a secluded area, the back rider suddenly shot his uncle twice.

The vendor plunged to the ground while the gunmen sped away.

The victim sustained a bullet wound in the head and was taken to the hospital on board an ambulance.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered two slugs and two spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.  (Dan Toribio)
