Pistol found inside woman’s luggage Print

A woman was held for questioning after a .45 caliber pistol was found inside her bag at the Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) in Divisoria last Thursday afternoon.

Jenelyn Bacornay Canangga, 28, single of Solar 7041, Suba Nipa, Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay was about to board a passenger bus when the gun was found.

Canangga arrived at the IBT at around 2 p.m. and subjected her baggage for examination at the x-ray machine.

The X-ray machine operator noticed a gun inside her bag which he then reported to the duty policeman.

During investigation, police confirmed that Canangga’s bag contained a .45 caliber pistol with no serial number.

Canagga claimed that the gun was owned by her brother-in-law, identified as Melvin Tamaan, an Army Scout Ranger who was allegedly on schooling.

Canangga was taken to the Divisoria Police Station and was detained pending the filing of charges for illegal possession of firearm. (Dan Toribio)
