A conflagration left P3- million worth of damages after razing 50 stalls and 15 residential houses at Market Site in Barangay Curuan last Saturday night.

A police report showed that the fire started at the house of the Pagotaisidro family and spread out to  50 adjoining stalls and 15 houses in about an hour’s time.

Firefighters responded to the area as the fire reached 4th alarm.

Affected residents vacated their houses while flames rapidly spread to all neighboring structures.

One of the water trucks fell in a canal while trying to penetrate the interior portion of the affected area.

Barangay officials and policemen along with the fire officials immediately provided security in the area while fire fighters struggled with the giant flames.

The fire was placed under control at around 10:45 p.m. with no casualty reported.

Fire and police investigators are still probing the incident to determine the cause of the conflagration.

Affected residents were assisted by barangay and CSWD officials as to their temporary shelter and other basic needs.  (Dan Toribio)
