Two women were arrested by police last Monday for allegedly misrepresenting themselves as employees of a state university and trying to collect thousands of pesos from a female student and her mother.

The 19-year old girl along with her mother formally filed a complaint against a certain Corazon Asali y Mejado, 56 years old, and a resident of Campaner Street and Edwina Perez y Angeles, 56, and a resident of Gratitude Grille, Lunzuran.

A police report disclosed that the incident happened when the complainant and her mother were at the WMSU campus to enroll the girl in a nursing course.

Asali and Perez approached the duo and offered them assistance to facilitate the process of enrollment in exchange for P5,000.

While the papers were being processed however, the College Admission Office confirmed that Asali and Perez were not connected with the university.

Asali and Perez were later held by school officials and turned over to the police who are now investigating the incident.  (Dan Toribio)
