A retired officer of the Commission on Audit (COA) was injured in a gun attack perpetrated by riding-in-tandem suspects in Barangay Pasobolong this city last Friday.

The victim was identified as Benjamin Ventura y Garcia, 58 years old, married.

Ventura was heading home at 8 p.m. when he was ambushed by riding-in-tandem suspects in a dimly lit area at the intersection of the Superhighway and Barangay Pasobolong road.

A police report said that the suspects, who were travelling on the opposite direction, went closer to Ventura’s multicab and opened fire.

The suspects sped away after the incident.

Although wounded, the victim managed to drive his vehicle to the hospital where he sought treatment for two bullet wounds.

Police still recovered two spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Police are investigating to determine the identities of the suspects and the motive behind the incident.  (Dan Toribio)
