Rural bus and car collision leaves 2 dead, 28 injured in Tungawan Print

Two persons were killed while 28 other passengers were injured when a Mitsubishi Mirage car collided with a commercial bus of the Rural Transit Bus Company in Purok 2, Upper Tungawan, east of this city on Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the two fatalities as 29-year-old Rex Arquiza Escosio, the driver of Mitsubishi Mirage car and Boalan and Emeryl Laurice Jimenez Baird, 29.

Arquiza is a resident of Boalan while his companion Jimenez is from Sto. Nino Village, Putik.

Police initial investigation disclosed that the Mitsubishi Mirage collided with the bus driven by Gene Garrata Roso, 48, married and resident of Purok Bliss, Pagadian City at around 1 p.m.

Investigators said that the car was on its way to Ipil coming from Zamboanga City while the bus was on opposite direction when the tragic accident occured.

The 29 passengers of the commercial bus sustained injuries where two of them identified as Ana Patricia Alterado, 19, a resident of Davao City and Lolita Alterado were rushed to Zamboanga City Hospital for medical treatment.

During the investigation, the bus driver claimed he lost control of the steering wheel causing it to directly hit the incoming car.

Due to the heavy impact, the bus even fell on its side.
