A murder suspect who is also linked to the 2015 assassination of Tungawan Mayor Randy Climaco shot a policeman before escaping from the Tungawan Municipal Police Station hours after being arrested by police.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 Information Officer, identified the subject as Joemar Banggi Aukasa who was arrested for three counts of Murder and listed as the 7th Most Wanted Person of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

Aukasa is also tagged as a person of interest in the murder of Tungawan Mayor Randy Climaco in October 2015.

Investigation disclosed that the suspect made his move while Tungawan investigator PO2 Ariel A. Floren was taking his fingerprints inside the investigation room.

Aukasa managed to get the issued firearm of PO1 Mohammad Nur Alamia who was also inside the room and fled.

While he was in the process of escaping, Aukasa also fired a shot and hit PO3 Romel Dela Cruz who was standing at the front desk.

The suspect then ran out of the police station and escaped towards an unknown direction bringing the handgun with him.

The wounded policeman was brought to the Ipil Hospital for medication while a hot pursuit operation was conducted by the Tungawan Municipal Police Station.  (Ely Dumaboc with reports from Dan Toribio)
